While lakhs of people struggle in the seemingly unending queues in front ATMs and banks across the country post the demonetization announcement earlier this month, a move by Canara Bank caught the eyes of people on social media.
The Canara Bank has recently rolled out mobile ATM vans in Bangalore to help cash-strapped people withdraw money.
As per news reports, approximately 800 customers were able to withdraw up to Rs. 8 lakh of cash from the ATM installed inside the blue color bus which was spotted at the MG Road in Bengaluru.
MM Chiniwar, the General Manager at Canara Bank Circle Office told Deccan Herald, “I was taking a stroll in the evening on MG Road and found that most of the ATMs were running out of cash. So, I got our mobile ATM, which serves Bengaluru Rural customers, pressed into service.”
To the relief of many people, the blue bus arrived at the MG road at around 5:30 in the evening to help people withdraw cash without any hassle.
According to Chiniwar, the bank will supply adequate amount of cash to their banks and ATMs by Wednesday in order to help people in replacing their old currency seamlessly.
The report also states that Canara Bank has seen a staggering 40 lakh transactions at its branches across the country since the announcement of demonetization old currency notes earlier this month.
