Mahakoshal Express Accident: 8 Coaches Derail Near Uttar Pradesh’s Kulpahar
Eight coaches of Mahakoshal Express have derailed between Mahoba and Kulpahar, two towns in Uttar Pradesh around 270 km from state capital Lucknow.
Eyewitnesses present at the spot said 18 people have been injured. Six people have been seriously injured and have been admitted in the Mahoba district hospital. The rest received minor injuries and have been given first aid.
An official representative of the railways said no one has been injured in the incident.
The cause of derailment, which took place shortly after 2 am, is yet to be ascertained. The Northern railway PRO, Manjar Karar said 1 coach of 2nd AC, 3 coaches of AC tier & some sleeper coaches were derailed.
The train was on way to Delhi from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. The railway police and the administration officials are at the spot, sources said. The area’s chief medical officer Sunil Kumar Vashnay is also present.
Railway officials have operationalised helplines at Jhansi, Gwalior, Banda and Nizamuddin stations to disseminate information to relatives of the passengers.
